Native-Owned Cetan Promotions Launches in North Dakota with a Vision Bigger Than Boxing
BISMARCK, N.D. — July 2, 2026—Professional boxing veteran Shawn “Sioux Warrior” Hawk, one of South Dakota’s most accomplished professional fighters, has officially launched Cetan Promotions LLC, a Native-owned boxing promotion company dedicated to bringing premier professional boxing events to North Dakota, the Upper Midwest, and tribal communities throughout Indian Country.
Cetan Promotions is now accepting inquiries from professional fighters, managers, trainers, matchmakers, sponsors, tribal nations, and community partners interested in collaborating to grow the sport while creating meaningful opportunities for athletes and youth.
An enrolled member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Hawk compiled an outstanding amateur record of 120-15, winning multiple national championships before turning professional in 2004. During his professional career, Hawk amassed a record of 23-3-1 with 17 knockouts, captured the USBO Cruiserweight Championship, Challenged Matt Godfrey in 2009 at cruiserweight for his NABF Cruiserweight title. He then challenged Eleider “The Storm” Alvarez for his WBO/NABO Light Heavyweight title, being the first to take Alvarez the distance in June of 2012, shortly after he would challenge undefeated champion Nathan Cleverly for the WBO World Light Heavyweight Championship in November 2012.
After more than two decades in boxing, Hawk is now focused on building the next generation of champions- both inside and outside the ring.
“Cetan Promotions isn’t just about putting on great fights,” Hawk said. “It’s about building champions inside and outside the ring. Boxing teaches discipline, accountability, respect, perseverance, and confidence. Those same values can change lives.”
Beyond promoting high-quality professional boxing events, Cetan Promotions is committed to partnering with tribal nations, schools, youth organizations, and local communities to expand access to the sport while creating pathways for personal growth, leadership, and opportunity.
Planned initiatives include:
• Youth boxing clinics and mentorship programs
• Amateur and professional boxing development opportunities
• Community outreach events promoting health, fitness, and positive lifestyles
• Partnerships with tribal nations and local organizations to support youth engagement
• Professional boxing events showcasing regional and Native American talent
Bringing nationally recognized boxing champions and respected speakers to Native communities
“Cetan” means HAWK in the Lakota language, reflecting the company’s Native roots and its commitment to honoring Indigenous values while creating opportunities for future generations.
“Cetan Promotions is about changing mindsets,” Hawk said. “If we can help one young person believe in themselves, stay in school, avoid drugs and violence, or chase a dream they never thought was possible, then we’ve already won something bigger than any championship belt.”
"Our goal is to build something that lasts," Hawk said. "We want young people to see what's possible through hard work, discipline, and believing in themselves. If boxing can help change one life, then we're doing something worthwhile."
As a Native-owned business, Cetan Promotions aims to become a leader in professional boxing while creating lasting opportunities for athletes, communities, and elevating Native youth throughout the region.
